EPA bars BP from new U.S. contracts

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced Wednesday it has temporarily suspended BP Exploration and Production, Inc., BP PLC and named affiliated companies (BP) from new contracts with the federal government.

In a written statement Wednesday, the EPA announced that it is barring BP contracts in the U.S. due its "lack of business integrity" demonstrated by the company's conduct related to the Deepwater Horizon blowout, explosion, oil spill, and response, as reflected by the filing of a criminal information.

BP has more U.S. military contracts for oil than any other company.

The EPA had said in a statement that, according to its regulations, it can consider banning BP from future contracts after weighing "the frequency and pattern of the incidents, corporate attitude both before and after the incidents, changes in policies, procedures, and practices."

The new EPA statement text includes:

"On November 15, 2012, BP agreed to plead guilty to eleven counts of Misconduct or Neglect of Ship Officers, one count of Obstruction of Congress, one misdemeanor count of a violation of the Clean Water Act, and one misdemeanor count of a violation of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, all resultant from its conduct leading to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster that killed 11 people and caused the largest environmental disaster in U.S. history."

WOW!... While this may be good news for a change, we are still
amazed how 11 people died, millions of wildlife species and
environmental hazards but NOBODY WENT TO JAIL. White colar
criminals need to be prosecuted just like you and I. What a
shame and a sham that big business can get away with murder
and sooo much more and simply pay a little fine.

Congratulations to the EPA. They seem to be trying to do right

for a change but they still have a long way to go.

Thanks Khidr for posting these finds in the HEALTH & PUBLIC SAFETY Group
for public information on WACPtv. We owe it to ourselves and families to
educate ourselves on whatz goin on in our environment. This type of
destruction to mother earth in the name of greed must stop.
