I switched on the television early Monday morning and saw people cheering in the streets of New York City.
My first thought was, "The Yankees are going to win the World Series, but they haven't won yet!"
Oddly enough, I had learned earlier of that the U.S. had murdered humankind's most wanted fugitive, Osama bin Laden.

In case you are wondering about the "YES WE HAVE", FOCUS YOUR ATTENTION on "BLACK WALL STREET". A Tulsa, Oklahoma community of African Americans in the early 1900's proved this fact to be true. A population of 15,000 Blacks owned 2 high schools, 1 hospital, 2 newspapers, 2 theaters, 3 drug stores, 4 hotels, 21 resturants, 30 grocery stores, 21 churches, a post office, a public library, a bank, medical schools, 6 private planes, a bus line, pawn shops, and over 150 two and three story brick… Continue

Peace is a state of mind; a state of spiritual and physical well being; and for some a state of the conditions in which we find ourselves living. The absence of war does not mean there is Peace!
Look around we all see hate, chaos, the misery of poverty - the absence of Peace on so many levels in our nation, in our communities. To all the American celebrities
that adopt an African child to raise in your lap of luxury why not adopt a Negro Black American orphan?… Continue

the only things keeping Black people in the condition that we are in center around failures. Our failing to remember how to confront and overcome various types of fear; our failing to remember how to confront and effectively neutralize the power that oppresses, seduces and robs us of dignity; and our failing to remember how to effectively use the individual and collective power we possess to change our condition and the condition of our people. There was a period when we… Continue

In a recent article appearing in the Sacramento Bee, dated October 10, 2010, a proposal to remove black children from traditional integrated schools and place them in segregated charter schools has been suggested. This proposal has been made by a black person, Margaret Fortune, who has operated a similar school in Sacramento.
Ms. Fortune suggests that up to 5,000 black children, who are also considered low-income, and beginning with K thru 3rd graders, would benefit from receiving an… Continue

As I have never left the U.S., my impression of life in other countries is very limited when it comes to their lifestyles. But having lived in America for nearly 68 years, I have a pretty good take on life here. Not only do I have time as a consideration, but experience, observation and being female, black and low income gives me a familiar perspective with millions of others. These characteristics gives both men and women like me a perception that is perhaps quite different from the one… Continue

In a series of articles I have written, I focused on the intolerance perpetrated by U.S. blacks toward other U.S. blacks. But the subject of this article has gone around in my mind like bits of fabric loosely sewn together with threads of memory and heartache. So rather than continue my own tirade regarding black intolerance, I decided to flip the script and discuss another valid point. Instead of focusing on the pieces, why not reflect on the whole?
Research for this project… Continue
