I took this photo inside of the Myan Ruins in walking distance from my residents. Can You BELIZE IT! Road Tour ‘In Search of the Promise Land’ – Some Highlights of a True Story unfolding with Photo and Video Documentation… to be made into a Popular TV series like “ROOTS”
After years of meditating, dreaming, planning and even a Send Off Party in July, I finally hit the road on or about September 28th. Preparation for this journey turned out to be much more than expected in time, money and even betrayal from one of my closest friends which took away a chunk of funds needed to travel safe and secure. But in spite of all the unique drama, I am here in BELIZE and loving every minute…can you BELIZE IT!
The Road Trip to Dallas Texas (my birth place) was successful and spending a few days with my family was a moment of inspiration and joy to say the least..
Brownsville, Texas was the next point of destination which took a whole day before crossing the border into Mexico. After about one week and 30 toll check points (military police with big guns and finger on the trigger), I finally reached the border only to find out that my pass port had not been stamped. The first words out of the mouth of the border guard was… “you have to go back to Brownsville, TX and get your passport stamped.” Not only was this a shock, I did not have funds enough to pay the penalty which they said would be 800 pasos or $50… the never ending toll fees and gasoline had taken it’s toll on my funds.
I don’t want to reveal too much of what happened next because it may spoil the exciting episodes coming soon. However, I will say that having to spend the night BETWEEN TWO BORDERS ended up being the key that turned me on to finding the promise land just 4 miles across the border into Corozal, San Antonio Village, Belize… the land of beautiful mixed race people and the historic Mayan Pyramid Ruins in walking distance from the promise land that I was in search of but now have found.
I am skipping over many great highlights that took place while in Mexico which places this journey at the top over many in the past. I am also skipping the details of how I met the owner (an African American Belizean Born Brother named Miguel who is the heir and deed owner to 10 acres of undeveloped land near the historic Myan Ruin Site, underground caves and the beautiful Ocean front that has tour boats to San Pedro Island.
WHAT DOES THE PROMISE LAND LOOK LIKE? WHAT ARE THE MAJOR POINTS OF INTEREST THAT MAKES IT UNIQUE ENOUGH TO KNOW IT IS TRULY THAT LAND AND HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT? STAY TUNED AND I WILL SHARE ALL THE DETAILS. MUCH THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO SUPPORTRD THIS JOURNEY IN ANY WAY AND MAY WE ALL BECOME VERY PROSPEROUS FROM THE FIND. CAN YOU BELIZE IT!
