RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A former North Carolina police chief whose mother is Italian and father is Somali said Sunday that he's disappointed with his country of 42 years after he was detained at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Former Greenville Police Chief Hassan Aden of Alexandria, Virginia, who now works as a law enforcement consultant, said he was detained March 13 on his return trip from Paris for his mother's 80th birthday. He supports the officers of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, but he believes his 90-minute detention was unreasonable, he said in a telephone interview.

Aden said a customs officer told him that his name was used as an alias by someone on a watch list. He said one officer told him that he wasn't being detained even though he couldn't use his phone and he had to remain seated.

"When it goes to 90 minutes with no phone ... and you can't move around, it seems more than an investigation to check your passport," he said. "It begins to feel like you are in custody."

Kinda like when you bring in a "suspect", and question them for a couple of hours, or hold them for 72? Never done that, eh Chief?
CRAIG
Don't see what's wrong with this picture...according to Trump supporters this guy with a name like Hassan must certainly be some to fear. Yeah that's what makes the U.S. great again.

Very good .. if his name was used by someone else .. of course you have to check and do what ever is necessary .. if my name was used by some one else than me .. I wouldn't mind to seat for as long as it takes in order to clear up the issue so everybody feels safe,

An American city's Police Cheif gets detained, while Mohammad Atta and his crew strolled on thru on sep 11. Yeah , customs has their head up their trump.

So if you're an ex-police chief you think the rules don't apply to you?

Where has Mr. Hassan Aden of Alexandria Va, been the last few years. His background is Somali and Somalia is at the forefront of terrroism within the US. "Aden" is a Somali name and there are known terrorists with that name such as Abdifatah Aden who also was a naturalized U.S. citizen from Somalia who went to Syria to fight for the Nusra Front, al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria. He died in battle in June 2014 at the age of 27. And Virginia to man peoples' surprise has proved to be an active center for radical Islamist activity over the years and has bred more than its share of terrorists since 9/11. It was at the Hamas-linkedDar al Hijrah mosque in Falls Church, for instance, that terrorist icon Anwar al-Awlaki, the Yemeni-American whom counter-terrorism officials say inspired hundreds of other Muslims to take arms in violent jihad, once served as imam. Among his disciples: Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan; Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, convicted in 2005 of collaborating with al-Qaida and plotting to assassinate President George W. Bush; and several of the 9/11 hijackers.

So there are reasons for detaining him. Who knows what name or person was confused with his name and his person. He, as a former police chief, should be aware of reasons that might lead to being detained. And 90 minutes is only a very long time if you are guilty and nervous. For this former police officer he should have taken a book out and passed his time without being irritated. How many people has he detained for 90 minutes in his professional career?

If you don't like the security Hassan then feel free to head up to Canada to live with Rosie....
