Summer is almost here. That means outdoor hangouts, BBQs and more. It also means now is the perfect time to upgrade your backyard with this easy-to-make tree ring fire pit.

This fire pit is stylish, functional and costs only about $50 to make from start to finish. What are you waiting for? Scroll down to learn how to make your own this weekend.

Supplies Needed

  • 14" charcoal grill, like the Weber Smokey Joe Portable one for $30
  • 4 sections of 14" inside diameter concrete tree ring (from $2-3 each, so $8-12 total)
  • 6 sections of 24" inside diameter concrete tree ring (from $2-3 each, so $12-18 total)
  • 2 cubic feet of small stones, pebbles, gravel or decorative rock (free to as fancy as you like)

After you have all your supplies, you are ready to start with Step One.

Please practice safe DIYing.

Step One: Construct the inner ring

In this step, you are literally laying the foundation of your fire pit. Before you do anything else, secure a level spot on your yard. It should be about three feet in diameter. You can kill the weeds before proceeding or place a layer of weed barrier cloth down. Next, you're ready to start adding the 14" tree ring sections.

Please note: Your pit will be more stable and level if you build it on bare ground rather than lush grass. You can easily build your pit on concrete, too.

When your ground is prepared, put the tree rings down like so:

Push the sections together.

Next, add some height. Take another tree ring set (2 sections) and add them to the foundation like so:

Please note: There are semi-noticeable gaps in the foundation where the tree rings meet. These add a decorative touch, but could be also be filled if desired.

Step Two: Add an outer ring

After this step, this is what you will have:

Step Four: Install the grill

Fire pits just aren't the same without grill tops to cook on. The charcoal grill featured here is a Weber Smokey Joe. It may or may not come with the legs attached. If it does, simply unscrew the legs and set aside--you don't need them.

THANK YOU SISTER D. FOR POSTING INFO ON THE FIRE PIT.  I WAS THINKING ABOUT HOW I CAN MAKE ONE FOR BURNING WOOD IN MY BACK YARD AND I READ YOUR POST.  I DON'T DO MUCH IN THE AREA OF COOKING OUT ON A GRILL BUT I SURE LIKE BURNING WOOD AND GAZING INTO THE FIRE OR JUST BURNING TRASH.

THX

You are quite welcome sistah Havinah, just wondering which of 19 you are going to build.lol  They all are unique!  Whichever you choose, have fun ... Thanks for viewing and the Like!
